Up Close And Personal

If he wasn't such an effective mediator, you'd swear that John Noble was in the wrong profession. After all, his performances on the stage have been widely acclaimed in the media as is evidenced by his noblemediation conference room - adorned with theater photos and memorabilia. More than the lawyer amidst his law books, his style reminds you of the leading man in "The Sound of Music", "The King and I",  "Chicago" or "Annie" (Daddy Warbucks)or all roles he has played on multiple occasions over the years. John Noble is also one of Westmoreland County's best-known attorneys - not simply because of his professional prominence and body of work on the stage, but also what he has brought to the various Westmoreland County Arts Programs for 25 years through his perennial involvement fostering the arts at the historic Palace Theatre, Stage Right! School for the Performing Arts & Professional Theater Company, Greensburg Civic Theatre, Apple Hill Playhouse, the Ligonier Valley Players, and The Theatre Factory in Trafford.

Born and raised in DuBois in western-central Pennsylvania, John earned his B.A. from Washington & Jefferson College where he graduated magna cum laude as an economics major. While his fellow students elected him Student Court Justice, his athletic peers selected him the most valuable wrestler on his college team - as well as achieving all-conference status twice in football. John then obtained his law degree via night school from Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh, while clerking full-time at Meyer Darragh Buckler Bebenek & Eck and, upon graduation, joined the firm as an associate in the Pittsburgh office.

In March, 1983, John made Greensburg his home and opened the firm's Westmoreland County office, allowing the Pittsburgh-based firm to develop its own local roots in the region's second largest county. At the age of 38, John was one of the youngest partners ever to be elected to the firm’s Managing Executive Committee as well as serving as Director of Business Development and Marketing firm-wide.

Primarily due to the extreme demand, John departed his long-time firm in January of 2009 to continue an exclusive Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practice, offering Mediation and Arbitration services on a full-time basis throughout Pennsylvania, as well as West Virginia, Ohio, Connecticut, New York, and Maryland.

In the community, if John is not reading to local elementary students as “Dr. Seuss” or leading the sing-along at the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit “Breakfast with Santa”, or volunteering at the annual Westmoreland Mall "Light Up Night," or Greensburg's Downtown Holiday Parade, John is the person to see at any high school musical theatre rehearsal as well as any production. As founder of The Westmoreland Night of the Stars in 1997, John has raised over $400,000 for Westmoreland County High School musical theatre programs in 17 school districts as well as for the home-school students. 2013 was a historic year for the program as the 17th Annual Event marked its 10,000th participating student, $50,000 in scholarships, and $25,000 in school award plaques.

To say that John's law practice is as eclectic as his stage performances only highlights his versatility. While historically engaged in a wide range of civil litigation matters over the past 35 years, he has distinguished himself as one Prennsylvania's top Mediators and Arbitrators. Whatever his role in the community, courtroom or the stage, the audience knows they get a topnotch performance from John Noble.
